OVERDRIVE - LOCAL CONTENT

Local Content can be shared as EPUBs, MP3s, and MP4s (streaming video) including:

  • Donated digital books by local authors
  • Educational materials / documents produced by libraries
  • Local histories
  • Interviews with local authors, historians, etc.

 Please note:

  • Local Content materials will be available to all patrons using the Ontario Library Service Download Centre site. 15 copies of each title will be made available using the one copy / one user model.
  • In order to publish a title through Local Content, your library must confirm that the creator/contributor owns the copyright for that title. OverDrive has provided an agreement template that libraries can use if they wish (please contact Beth Harding to see a sample).
  • Libraries must avoid submitting content to OverDrive that they would normally distribute via OurDigitalWorld.
  • Epub files must be no larger than 100 MB (most EPUBs are under 5 MB). OLS will validate each title before uploading using an EPUB validator.
  • To make a submission, please contact Beth Harding, Digital Licensing Coordinator.
