Offer Ends March 31, 2025
Category: Library Supplies & Services
Description:
Only the largest and best-funded library systems can regularly afford $10,000+ speaking fees from popular authors, which means that most people do not have access to learn from these insightful and important thought leaders.
The Library Speakers Consortium (LSC) launched in July 2022 has grown into a partnership of over 400 public libraries working together to bring regular author talk programming to communities of all sizes. Our vision is to dramatically expand access to these programs for all library systems.
How It Works
The Consortium will create 2-3 online bestselling-author events per month, which will be streamed live, including interactive Q&A sessions with participants. We are highly committed to offering a diverse mix of perspectives.
Author selections will include:
● Novelists, poets, and literary fiction writers
● Personal and professional development thought-leaders
● Non-fiction authors
● One or more Canadian authors each quarter
Author talks will stream live through a custom-branded microsite that we'll design using your library's photo, logo, and colors so your patrons will recognize that their community library is bringing these events directly to them.
Additional features include:
● Ability to share as many or as few of the programs with your community as you prefer.
● Programs archived for access “on-demand.”
● Microsite comes pre-loaded with archived events dating back to LSC's July 2022 launch
● Registrant reminder & thank you emails with event links
● Interactive Q&A sessions during each event.
● Detailed analytics of registration information, as well as the number of views of livestreamed events and archived events
● Permission is given for in-person Watch Parties either onsite/offsite for your community
● Accessibility features include event captioning and WACG compliance.
During the month of July, we’ll feature an all-bestselling kids/teen author talk month and concentrate each week on a specific grade level. We’ll also provide age-appropriate activity ideas such as printable coloring pages, writing prompts, and crafts. July 2024's roster includes Kate DiCamillo, Max Brailler, Elizabeth Acevedo, and Dan Santat.
LSC also collaborates with The Smithsonian Institute for fascinating events the whole family will enjoy, regardless of age!
