Ontario Library Service consultants are available to support custom projects on a scheduled basis. The team will act as facilitators for your planning or other types of customized sessions or projects based on a fee for service model.

Fee for service is defined as any special work requested on themes or topics that fall outside our regular day to day consulting and training activities, offerings, and services. 

Each request for customized projects will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Scheduling is important to achieve success in your projects, and in our availability to support your work! Requests should be shared with the OLS well in advance of proposed start dates to ensure we can properly allocate our time and resources to your projects; scheduling ahead with the team is crucial.

We currently provide the following custom services:

• Full or partial strategic planning support to develop and implement a public library’s strategic planning goals based on our tested models and tools.
• Customized training or information sessions on public library related topics for public library boards and/or staff teams.
• Basic analytic and comparative work, providing for useful advice relating to your public library’s Annual Survey of Public Libraries (ASPL) data.
• Group meeting facilitation speaking to selected special topics which public library CEO’s and/or public library boards may find helpful to have a third party involved.

With the above in context, we unfortunately cannot provide what would be considered legal, financial, or human resource related opinions around matters before the library board or organization. For these instances, we strongly encourage you to seek certified professional guidance.

All our customized services provided to client libraries and/or their public library boards will require a signed contract for service, which will allow for commitments to be made and outlines to be developed by both parties to accept the terms and set the work schedule for projects.

If you are interested in working with Ontario Library Service on a custom facilitation project, please complete the Custom Facilitation Form. Upon completion of this form, an OLS consultant will respond to your request as soon as possible.

Hourly rates reflect:

• Time spent on-site or virtually, facilitating the customized session(s) on the agreed upon topics or themes identified in the OLS contract for service. 
• Time spent preparing the session content, as quoted in the OLS contract.
• Time spent transcribing notes or writing summary reports as follow-up to session(s) or facilitation activities. 

Any costs associated with OLS consultant travel, meals, and accommodations will be billed to the library as per the contract for service.

To ensure equitable consideration of custom work, a waitlist with an estimated time of response or delayed start dates for your projects may be required based on organizational capacity.
